The Arcades - Profile

Name: The Arcades

Why you have such a ridiculous name:

Our music is colourful, playful and imaginative; like an Arcade game!!! Or is it that we’re just cheap? Hmm.

Members:

Adam Roe - Vox/Guitar
Dave Vaughan-hirsch - Lead Guitar
Dom Grist - Drums
Jonny Evans - Bass.

Website:

http://thearcades.dyn.nu/

When & how you formed:

We formed at Southampton University. Adam was mates with Jonny, Jonny knew Dom from many moons ago and Adam found Dave up a mountain in Wales.

Where can we usually find you if we want our money back or something?:

We’re big fans of the Hobbit pub, Joiners and playing in people's back gardens.

The kinda sounds you play:

Indie rock – but none of your girlie Embrace rubbish.

Your heroes:

Radiohead, Coldplay, Editors, Guillemots, Kasabian, Joy Division, Mew, The Music, The Departure, Delays and Banana Man.

Your thoughts on world politics:

OOO aren’t you a classy website? All very different. Adam was interviewed on camera at Glastonbury on politics and thinks he said something clever but it was after a few beers. In general: climate change is happening so do something! We’d save the world if we knew it’d be easy. Be nice.

The top three things readers need to know about you:

1. We’re actually quite good, come see us.
2. We love music and play just for the music. But money makes it easier.
3. We’re Southampton's best band because we have the greatest melodies.
