Tomboy - Profile

Why you have such a ridiculous name:

We spent ages thinking of a name and knew we wanted something that was short, one word probably, anything that wasn’t 'The' something. Then one day I overheard some girls on the bus talking about their tomboy mate.

Duncan (vocal/guitar) Ollie (guitar/keyboard/vocal) Paul (drums) and Adam (Bass).

When & how you formed:

Well Ollie and Duncan have known each other for a really long time and I was friends with Ollie from school. But we didn’t start playing together until we met Adam in mid 2004.

Where can we usually find you if we want our money back or something?

We try and support as many of the bands as we possibly can around here, so I guess in Lennons or at the Joiners.

The kinda sounds you play:

Sounds a little like a cross of Bowie, Radiohead, The Doors and Pulp with new music from bands such as The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs and Bloc Party.

Your thoughts on world politics:

We’re not the type of people to get too opinionated about a lot of issues. Things aren’t quite as clear-cut in the real world as right and wrong, so often we like to take a broader view without committing to one opinion or movement. Or, in other words, we are quite comfy on our fence thanks very much.

The top three things readers need to know about you:

1. If you saw us a while ago, or have our old cds, we have improved immeasurably since then - ask anyone. So give us another chance.

2. We played with Maximo Park once, and no one was there – but it was still fun.

3. People who dance when we play make us happy.
